We define Lifegroup as “a community of people committed to following Jesus together through the Acts 2 model of the early church.” The 3 simple categories of Look Back, Look Up, and Look Forward can give you “buckets” to add details to your Lifegroup gatherings.

⬅️1. Look Back

What’s our vision for Lifegroup, and what can we thank God for?

It’s important to remind ourselves the bigger picture of WHY we’re meeting, which means “looking back” on our vision + any ways we’ve seen God move recently.

• Vision: what is the vision of your Lifegroup, and how do we want to live it out?
• Any quick God-stories or testimonies of God moving we want to share with each other? (some Lifegroups have folks sign up ahead of time for this)
• Other helpful (but not essential elements):
  • Announcements: you can find out churchwide announcements at epicentre.org/lessons at the bottom of each lesson.
  • Connect: especially if you’re still getting to know each other, consider doing a short connect question or activity.

⬆️2. Look Up

Focusing our attention on God & meeting Him through his Word

It’s easy as humans to focus all our time and attention on what other people are doing - Lifegroup is the time to turn our gaze up to our Creator, thank him, and worship him. This typically looks like the following:

• Worship & Prayer: Usually, 1 or 2 people prepare ahead of time how we can center on who God is and what he has done. That can look like singing worship songs, using God’s word to meditate on who He is, or using other practices for us to marvel at the amazingness of who God is. • God's Word: We meditate and learn from God's Word as a way to hear from God and commit to let his words impact our lives! You can use the Bible lessons we provide, or try other forms like Lectio divina, Discovery Bible Study, inductive, theme studies, or other ways. Ask other Lifegroups what they've done if you want ideas.

➡️3. Look Out

How can we respond to what discussed and bring into our week? How can we pray for each other?

Reflect on what God said to us, and pray for each other. It’s helpful to share both a joy and something we’re asking God to do. We believe God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, so giving words of encouragement and faith is helpful when we pray.
