👉 ⏯️ Song: Have To Have You by Circuit Riders
“1 To the angel of the church in Sardis write:
These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”
What does repenting mean to you? Does it remind you of being awakened?
In this passage, the Lord sends an angel messenger to tell the church in Sardis to wake up and repent. Though they know the Lord, God declares that they are spiritually dead because they have left actions unfinished and not held fast to His word. There is an emphasis that true transformation does not come simply through works, but through repentance. The more we walk in step with the Lord, the more we realize how we need His resurrection life to spiritually wake us up. Let us be a people who are not lulled to sleep by society around us, but instead people who are awakened to the Lord’s purposes and passions.
Lord, where are the places in my life you want to bring life? Reveal the deeper parts of my heart; lead me to transformation through repentance. Show me where I need to be awakened.
